A big part of researching new cities/towns before I travel is searching where the best instagrammable spots are so that my Insta feed can look good! So I thought why not share that wealth and put together a guide of Charlotte’s insta-worthy murals? Charlotte isn’t known for a specific spot for photos (like Nashville for example is) but that doesn’t mean the city isn’t rolling in them, because it is.
Disclaimer: There are dozens of other murals I didn’t cover in this post. Doesn’t mean I like them any less or think they aren’t “instagrammable”. If I missed your favorite one, comment which one below!
Here are 12 Instagrammable Murals in Charlotte for your next trip or photoshoot!
Blog post was updated on January 26th, 2020.Â
Confetti Hearts Wall:
The Confetti Hearts wall is a delight to the eyes. Sprinkles of inspiring messages are written on random hearts throughout the wall. You can’t walk by this mural and not feel happy and joyous. In such a short time, this mural has risen in popularity all across the city.
Artist: @evelyn_henson
Where: South End. Behind Jen’s Ice Cream, across from Pepperbox Doughnuts. 101 W Worthington Ave Suite 150, Charlotte, NC 28203.Â
Magic Carpet Mural (behind Shook Kelley):
Not only is this a cute design but you can also see the skyline in the background. Talk about views! Baltimore artist duo, Jessie & Katy created a couple of different carpets throughout South End & Uptown. The carpets are scattered along the rail trail and are bright and colorful.

Where: South End. Behind Shook Kelley on the rail trail. 2151 Hawkins St # 400, Charlotte, NC 28203
Lotus Flower (Former Stella Artois):
Possibly the most synonymous mural to Noda. It was first commissioned as a Stella Artois ad back in 2017. In my opinion, a mural was a genius idea for an ad. Now, the glasses have been covered by a lotus flower and looks just as good as before.
Artist: @osirisrain
Where: Across from Reigning Doughnuts. 3120 N Davidson St Ste 100, Charlotte, NC 28205
Baby Yoda:
If you have any kind of internet access, you’ve seen the Baby Yoda memes. I’ve never been a Star Wars fan but I have to admit that Baby Yoda is the cutest (and funniest). When I saw the mural start popping up on my Instagram feed, I knew I had to include this mural in my list.
Artist: @alxdlrg
Where: Noda Deli & Market. 1721 N Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28206
The Fibonacci (aka Swirl):
The classic photo spot in Noda. The swirl forms a pattern of different colors. But beware, the building that Fibonacci is attached to has been sold and the future of this selfie spot may or may not be there anymore. So for now, don’t miss your chance to get a flick infront of the swirl.
Artist: @jonay_di_ragno
Where: Noda. Solstice Building. 3221 N Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28205
Confetti Stripe Wall:
Another one by Evelyn Henson. Simple and colorful, Evelyn continues her playful concept with a striped wall and an inspirational message that reads “Make People Feel Loved Today”. It’s new, but it’s already gaining traction and will become a top selfie spot in the city.
Artist: @evelyn_henson
Where: Noda. In front of Idlewild. 424 E 36th St Unit 2, Charlotte, NC 28205
Donut Wall:
It’s no secret that Krispy Kreme opened up their headquarter offices and taste kitchen in the South End neighborhood. But did you know they also snuck in a donut mural? This mural is colorful, uplifting, and fun. So even if you are on a diet, and are watching your donut intake, you will be able to at least snap some selfies with them!
Artist: I could not find their info, if you know them please comment or message me so I can give credit.Â
Where: South End, in front of Spaces. 2116 Hawkins St, Charlotte NC, 28203
Solstice Tavern Ribbon:
Although Solstice has been closed and sold, the mural on their storefront is one of Noda’s most captivating pieces. It’s huge, blue, purple, and unique. With new owners, I’m not sure how long the mural will stay up for but it’s not to be missed in NoDa.
Artist: @napoletanoart
Where: Noda. Former Solstice Tavern. 3221 N Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28205
Mario Charlotte Skyline:
This specific mural was the first one I came across when I moved to Charlotte. It’s creative, unique, and centers around the city. It’s a fun play on the classic Mario game (which I played 24/7 when I was younger). You’ll see the different sports team from the city, the skyline, and Michael Jordan shooting a basket to the finish goal of the Mario game.
Artists: @alxdlrg & Despicable D
Where: Outside of Noda. F4mily Matters. 3124 The Plaza, Charlotte, NC 28205
Do The Things That Light You Up:
The newest mural on this list. it’s inspirational and relatable, the mural is minimalistic but it’s a true beauty in person. Also its’ quote “You can’t make everyone happy, you’re not ice cream” fits right in the fact that it’s displayed at an Ice Cream shop. The mother – daughter artist duo spent 37 hours completing this piece of work.
Artists: @duarte_designs
Where: Plaza Midwood. Two Scoops Creamery. 913 Central Ave, Charlotte, NC 28204
Angel Wings:
Ok, so i’m being a little basic here. But wings are super cute and probably the OG insta – worthy shot. The best part of these wings is that there are wings on this mural for adults, children, and dogs! Every time I ride past it I’m enamored at how bright and fun this mural is. There’s no doubt this mural was made for Instagram.
Artist:Â @redcalacastudio
Where: South End. Max & Lola Bodega. 1501 S Mint St, Charlotte, NC 28203
Floral Wall:
Ok, you got me, this isn’t a mural. But, I thought this spot was still worthy of a shout-out because it’s beautiful. It’s tucked away in a cute tea shop called Birch Fine Tea. The wall is nothing like the past murals that I’ve mentioned and it gives off a very feminine feel. On a chilly day, it would be a perfect spot to visit to get a hot tea and relax for a second or get some reading done.
Artist: I would assume the owner? But again, I’m not sure so if you know please let me know and I will give credit.Â
Where: Camp North End (Birch Fine Tea). 1824 Statesville Ave Unit 109, Charlotte, NC 28206
Did this list help you? Hopefully it did! Next time you visit Charlotte, you’ll know where to get some dope shots for your Instagram *wink wink*.
An honorable mention that I want to talk about is Camp North End. This is where creatives in Charlotte go to thrive. Art galleries, murals, festivals, food trucks, small businesses, and music light up the area. I couldn’t pick a couple of murals from this camp so I’m just going to leave the address below so you can explore + discover local art and artists from the city!
Where: 1824 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206
See y’all later!
