Happy Thursday! As you know I’ve decided to participate in Blogtober but life got in the way and I wasn’t able to post consistently every day. I promise to make a better effort for the second half of the month as I’ve completed some of the projects that were taking up my time before.
Today’s post is going to be all about Halloween. If you’re like me, you probably wait until the last minute to get your halloween costume. You probably also aren’t the type to want to spend $80 on a halloween costume you will only wear once. Â Since this year I’m thinking of taking a more travel related path for my costume, I thought what a good idea to share with you guys some costumes that are right in tuned with the travel spirit, so let’s start shall we!?
#1 Safari Tourist
Going on a Safari is definitely on my bucket-list, but for now I’ll have to stick to watching the travel channel and seeing my favorite instagrammers take on their safari’s. I included this costume on the list because it’s super easy to put together and you will more than likely have these articles of clothing in your closet. Here’s what you’ll need:
- White/Beige Shirt
- Beige Pants/Shorts
- Binoculars
- Outback Hat
- Brown boots
#2 Where’s Waldo
I’m going to be honest. This is what I’m thinking about dressing up as. I mean, it’s cheap and a breeze to create. If you’re running low on time and let’s be honest, who isn’t? You may want to consider going the Where’s Waldo route. Here’s what you’ll need:
-
- Red and white striped sweater or shirt.
- Fake glasses (you can buy them at a local claire’s).
- Red beanie
- Jeans
- Whatever colored shoes you want (Waldo wears brown shoes).
#3 Passport Stamp
Everyone loves passport stamps! Why not be one? This is probably one of the easier costumes to make as you can be as creative as you want with it. This is what you’ll need:
-
-
- A white t-shirt dress/t-shirt.
- Fabric pen (go to wal-mart and get 2-3 colors, if you want more than one stamp)
- Google your favorite destination and get to drawing! Passport stamps are never perfect, half of mine are half-stamped so you don’t have to be an artist because it will still look cool!
- black/white shoes.
-
#4 Dora the Explorer
This one is pretty obvious and I’ve seen a lot of people dress up like Dora, but I meaaaan, her outfit is the cutest. Dora is the perfect DIY outfit because people will more than likely know who you are without asking you first:
-
-
- Purple shirt
- Orange shorts
- Small backpack (doesn’t have to be purple but if you want the full effect go for it)
- Wig (optional)
- White Shoes
-
#5 Eliza Thornberry
I know, I know… everyone wants to be the cool Debbie Thornberry. Let’s not sleep on Eliza though. If we’re sticking with the travel theme we should remember that Eliza loved being nomadic and rightfully so. She was always the one wanting to learn more, travel more, and overall just a curious soul. To become Eliza for Halloween here’s what to get:
-
-
- Two pig-tail braids (no, you don’t have to be a red-head)
- Yellow Dress
- Red Scarf
- Fake Glasses
- Use your eyeliner to create freckles or to make yours stand out
- Book bag (optional).
-
After researching and writing this list, I’m definitely interested in being Eliza but I’m not throwing Where’s Waldo out of the window just yet. What do you guys want to be for halloween? and did my list help you decide? Let me know in the comments!
Xx,
Wynee
