Follow me on Social Media

If you follow me on social media you know that over the past couple of months I’ve become a foodie and drinkie (new term, y’all). I realized that every time I travel I am consistently seeking out the best food and the best drinks. I truly believe that a huge chunk of traveling and enjoying new cities sits with the food and drinks we consume. Although I’m not the best with food photography (I’m tryin’ doe) I enjoy capturing the essence of food and translating that within my social media. I don’t know about you but I can’t see a picture of food on social media because I automatically get hungry!

Charlotte, NC

Since moving to Charlotte, I’ve gotten the opportunity to attend a couple of media events for restaurants and yesterday I got the chance to check out 204 North. I’ve only been once before and that was for drinks so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. The event was held upstairs and the detail on this event was impeccable. This tasting event was for their new Fall menu so everything from the decor, set up, stations, and photo ops were super dope and screamed “fall time“.

Drinks

Upon walking in, we were greeted by the bartenders making some of their speciality cocktails for fall. They had three. They were the Caramel Apple Mule, Pumpkin Spice Margarita, and the Thyme Gentlemen. My favorite of the night was definitely the Caramel Apple Mule! Packed with flavor and not too sweet. I will definitely be back at 204 JUST for this drink this fall. If you know me you know that my favorite drink ever is a margarita and you will also know that I hate pumpkin spice anything, I wish this trend would just disappear honestly. But, the Pumpkin Spice Margarita was not bad at all. To me, it didn’t taste too much like a typical margarita but it wasn’t overbearing with pumpkin spice flavor either. The margarita was the perfect balance of flavors which made it a decent drink. I can’t really give a review on the Thyme Gentlemen because I’m not a bourbon person at all and my opinion would be a bit biased, if you’re a bourbon person I would definitely give it a shot (haha, see what I did there).

204 North Cocktails

My favorite part about this event was the fact that 204 North understood the necessities of our photos! I mean, how successful of a blogger can you be without some cool pics!? They laid out food specifically for us to take pictures of prior to us sitting down and having dinner. Special thanks to the owners and the executive and sous chef for coming out and explaining the dishes to us.

Appetizers

The starter dishes were delicious. My favorite was surprisingly the salad (the brussel sprouts were SO good), followed by the meatballs (they were spicy and that gave them the extra kick of flavor), and then the potatoes.

Main Dishes

For the main dishes, my favorite was the Mahi. The Mahi was topped with creamy mushrooms and served on yummy corn puree. I also enjoyed the pork chop which left me a bit shocked because I am not a pork chop person at all. I’ve found that a lot of pork chops are usually dry but 204 North does a great job of keeping it juicy. If you’re ever in the mood for a classic dish, try the bucatini with peas and pancetta. Chef Franke Jones said that this specific bucatini is an Italian play on pork and beans because they try to stick to their Southern roots as much as possible. Overall, I would eat each entree again.

DESSERT

Dessert was probably my favorite part of the night minus the drinks. We had the opportunity to try their Smore’s in a Jar. The marshmallow with the graham crackers was DEEEELICIOUS, I could eat have eaten a pound of it honestly. My only note about the dessert is that the chocolate could have been a little warmer, although I don’t think it took away from the taste it did take away from the vibe of the dessert itself.

Another part that I really enjoyed about the night was that they handed out comment cards for us to tell them how we felt about the dishes and drinks, I think that tells a lot about their restaurant culture and how they want to know how to improve and in what areas they’re killing it in. The night ended with some cute swag bags to take home. They included a gift card, pen, pint cup (y’all know how I feel about cups in general – i want them all), a koozie, and some ALCOHOL *insert heart eyes*.
