The city of Sin. When most people think of Las Vegas, the word PARTY always comes to mind. Las Vegas may be home to one of the biggest party scenes in the world, but there is so much more than that. Vegas is a city with culture (yes, culture), a foodie scene, and even better… beautiful sights. Don’t get me wrong. What’s a Vegas trip without leaving with a Grade A hangover? I mean we all saw the movie. But I’m here to tell you about the bucket list you never knew existed for your very first vegas trip!

I went on my first ever Vegas trip during the summer of 2015. Not going to lie, I went to get blacked out, and to indulge in the “Vegas Party Experience”. It wasn’t until I got back home and started focusing on traveling that I realized I missed out on a whole bunch of good stuff because I was too busy drinking from morning till night. I’m here to save you liver and tell you about other things that probably won’t require a drink in your hand. There’s an abundance of guides telling you where to party so I wanna write a piece for the other half of you that want to do other shit.

What To See

Las Vegas Welcome Sign

Yes, it’s super cheesy and extremely touristy but SO WHAT? I had no idea about this sign on my first trip because again, I was more worried about re-creating the movie Hangover that I wasn’t concerned with it. Get your picture and flex for the ‘gram…it’s okay!

Take a Helicopter Ride

I wouldn’t recommend taking a helicopter ride in just any city but Vegas is a must. Just imagine seeing the Vegas glitz and glamour from the sky? 10/10 recommend. Helicopter riders usually don’t go over 30 minutes so if you’re scared of heights it won’t last too long. Groupon has some pretty awesome helicopter tour deals.

Shark Reef Aquarium

Head over to the Mandalay Bay for this cool sight to see. Housing one of the largest shark tanks in North America. See one of the most dangerous creatures on the planet up close and personal. For tickets and pricing check it out here.

The World’s Tallest Rollar Coaster: High Roller

Yup. You read that right. The WORLD’S tallest Rollar Coaster! High Roller is located in Las Vegas, High Roller sits in front of Caesars Palace. I’m not the greatest when it comes to heights or rides but this roller coaster has cabins so you’re secured in while you take the breath taking views of Vegas in.

What to Do

Visit the Grand Canyon

Although the Grand Canyon is a 4 hour drive – it’s worth it. If you’re in Vegas for more than 4 days this should be high priority on your list. Rent a car and take in the beautiful views that the west has to offer. Different sites in the Canyon are open different times of the year but just to be aware The South Rim of the Park is open all year long. To read more about the Canyon click here.

Take a Gondola Ride at the Venetian

When we think of Gondola rides we often think of Italy. I’m here to tell ya, you don’t have to break the bank to take a Gondola ride anymore as you can just go to Vegas for one. Granted, they aren’t as romantic but it’s still a very kitschy thing to do while visiting the City of Sin.

Red Rock Canyon

Not to be confused for the GRAND CANYON. Red Rock Canyon is just a short 20-25 minute drive from Vegas and can get you all of the beautiful sights and hikes that the grand canyon can if you’re completely time restricted.

Las Vegas Springs Reserve

If you’re into botanical gardens this should be on your list of places to visit while in Vegas. They have a little bit of everything like exhibits, gardens, and hiking trails. Tickets for non Nevada residents ring about $20, you can grab tickets here.

Bellagio Fountain

Almost as cliche as the Welcome to Las Vegas sign but equally beautiful. The fountains are a picture perfect location outside of the Bellagio. The fountains put on a show that changes in colors and music.

Visit the Met Gallery Art Museum

Do you enjoy looking at contemporary pieces? Check out this Art Museum. They are always changing out their exhibitions so no two visits will be the same. The awesome thing about this museum is that a portion of the proceeds of artwork will go to the museum to help keep this location open and the rest of the proceeds will go to the artists. It’s a win-win for everyone.

Where to Eat/Drink

Probably my favorite part of the post here. I believe that the foodie scene in Las Vegas isn’t talked about a lot because the party scene over takes everything. But I’m here, y’all. Let me give you some places to check out on your trip to Vegas.

Other Mama

Take a quick drive off the strip to enjoy some good Asian flavor in a cozy environment at Other Mama.  Perfect for couples as the restaurant has dim lighting which gives it a date night vibe.

Creamberry

Got a sweet tooth? Visit Creamberry for some pretty awesome desserts. Creamberry is the home of the Cotton Candy Burrito to give you a glimpse of the type of shop this is. They have wacky macarons, ice cream tacos, ice cream cone with cotton candy, and more! Next time you’re in Las Vegas make yourself really happy with some sweets!

Taco y Taco Mexican Eatery-Bar

Who would I be if I didn’t include a Mexican restaurant? Taco y Taco has delicious tacos, quesadillas, and burritos that will make your mouth water.

Honey Salt

Besides having the cutest name ever! Honey Salt prides itself in being a farm to table concept. You can choose from light to hearty dishes to fill your tummy’s desires. Honey Salt even participates in brunch, so come and get ya brunchin’ on!

Atomic Liqours

We’re back with the touristy destinations! Atomic Liqours is Las Vegas’s oldest bar. Head on over to Atomic if you’re into the dive bar scene, want a craft cocktail, and take in some Vegas history.
