disclaimer: This post is specifially about Grand Cayman.

Heading to the Cayman Islands and ready to fill your itinerary up with fun experiences? You’re at the right place. Grand Cayman, the largest of all of the Cayman Islands is jam packed with activities and excursions to make for the perfect vacation. Planning your next trip to this popular destination will be a breeze and these next 5 tips will make sure you have the perfect “Cayman” experience.

1. Eat Tortuga Rum Cake

Rum cakes are a staple in the Cayman Islands, soaked in Tortuga rum and then sealed to lock in the delicious flavors. Eating a rum cake is having the Cayman culture available to you in one bite. If you visit the Tortuga Rum Co. store you will have the ability to buy cakes, coffees, speciality items, and even be greeted with samples for tourists to try.

2. Visit Hell (literally)

One of the bigger tourist attractions in the Cayman Islands, Hell is a unique place that even has its own post office where you can send your friends postcards and gifts from hell. The store in Hell is as much of a sight to see than the actual “Hell”.

It is said that the origin of the name Hell comes from the locals claiming the rocks “look like hell” and then there’s another theory that when a colonizer came across the place he exclaimed “Oh Hell!”. Either way, this place should be on your Grand Cayman list. Did I mention visiting is free?

3. Catch Rays at Seven Mile Beach

Yes, it’s seven miles long. This is the perfect way to catch rays and relax on your vacation. Seven miles of blue waters and palm trees will have you wanting more of this peaceful oasis. If you’re into walking you’re able to walk the full seven miles.

4. Visit Stingray City

Stingray City was my favorite part of my trip. Just wanted to let you guys know that I was super excited for this but when the moment came (I can’t swim btw) I froze and anxiously made it out on the water. Not going to lie, seeing those stingrays in person is way scarier in person. You’re able to book a tour to Stingray City with various tour boats but the tour that we used was Captain Marvin’s.

The staff was friendly, the other passengers were fun, and when the boat stops at each of the stops you have the availability to meet travelers who are the doing the same things you are.

5. Go Out!

Nightlife is my favorite part about any city. If the nightlife sucks, the city loses points with me. Here are some of the best places to go out for a drink or 3.

  1. O Bar: More of a club than a bar.
  2. Tiki Beach: Bar with views of the ocean.
  3. Macabuca Tiki Bar: Bar with a panoramic view of the water. Insta worthy!

NOTE: O Bar may charge a cover on specific nights.

So there you have it folks, the 5 things you MUST do when you visit Grand Cayman. In my opinion to really get the Cayman experience I would not recommend staying at a hotel. Stay at an Airbnb and mingle with the locals and people from the community that can give you insight on the place.

As always, cities are never limited to a list of things to do so I encourage you to go out and explore and come back and tell me something you did that wasn’t on this list!
