The Nation’s Capital – yup, that’s D.C. I can’t even lie, I didn’t expect much out of D.C. even though I had never been but boy did it surprise me. I can’t believe it took me 25 years to visit because it easily became top 5 cities for me. Now, when it comes to accommodation, give me a bed and a pillow and I’m good. This trip though was a bit different as it was a very short trip. I decided to splurge on a nicer accommodation to be able to relax on my trip more.
That’s where The Kimpton Palomar comes in. Nestled away in the thriving neighborhood of Dupont Circle, the area does not disappoint. Palomar is close to restaurants, shops, bookstores, and night life. The hotel also has the perfect mix of modern and classic designs.
Walking into the hotel you feel comfortable and are greeted with warm smiles from the bell man to the front desk people. Upon checking into my room – I was welcomed with an overwhelming feeling of comfort and spaciousness. The room is romantic, big enough, and cozy.
How cute is the bed!? I wanted to take it home with me. The bed was an absolute dream, I’m a pillow person and the pillows felt like literal clouds. One of the coolest things about the hotel is that they keep Washington D.C. books full of travel and tourist advice – so for someone who has never been, talk about CLUTCH!
I think my ultimate favorite of Palomar is hands down the bathroom decor. I was transported into a James Bond movie, instantly. I mean look at these walls!!! They made me actually want to get ready for my nights out.
One thing Palomar does not fall short on are their amenities. In my opinion, these can be a make or break in choosing the right hotel for you because anyone make a bedroom look nice.
Their amenities include but are not limited to: Fitness Center, Pool, Wine Hour, COMPLIMENTARY Bikes, 24 hr Room Service, Yoga Mats (inside every room), and coffee & tea time in the morning.
If you ever find yourself in the D.C. area and aren’t sure where to stay to get the most for the neighborhood you will be in. Stay here. Lyft rides anywhere (minus the airport) took at most 15 minutes.
Special thanks to The Kimpton Palomar D.C. for hosting me as their guest. As always, the content and opinions expressed here are my own.Â
Keep an eye out for next weeks blog on my weekend guide to D.C. Until next time!
