I am Wendy the person behind the social media and blogging account Lovingly Bold! Lovingly Bold was officially born and launched in October of 2017. Through inspiration of lifestyle, travel, social media and bold conversations, Lovingly Bold has grown to be a platform of expression, teaching and influencing! Recently I have made a huge move from Nebraska to Texas!
I was so excited to put together a city guide. I am new to my city of Frisco, Texas which is located and considered to be a part of North Dallas. This presented me the opportunity and excuse to go out to explore my new city without feeling guilty! (Thank you Wynee!) My husband and I chose to live in an area of North Dallas because it was the perfect area where we would be close to a lot of surrounding areas. This means lots of opportunities to explore!
Interesting Facts about Dallas, Texas:
- 7-eleven originally started here in Dallas.
- You can visit the graves of Bonnie and Clyde here.
- Laser Tag was invented in Dallas!
- You can visit the JFK monument which showcases where John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Coffee shops:
Dallas really surprised me when it came to how many coffee shops it has to offer. Every coffee shop had something so unique and different to offer. These coffee shops are able to satisfy many flavors and styles. I do a happy dance in my head when I google different coffee shops because the options seem endless! Exploring coffee shops is something that I love doing so I totally wanted to share this first!
My two favorites so far would be…
Nerdvana in Frisco, Texas
Nerdvana is a place I love to go to because I can get work done and reward myself after feeling accomplished. How you may ask? Well, Nerdvana is pretty unique as they are a coffee shop that specializes in selling board games. I love it because you can play games that they offer to let you borrow, buy board games or simply enjoy a coffee and get to work. I really enjoy the convenience of having both work and play in one area. Although I must add, I have lost one to many times to my husband in the game of connect four in this location. I tell you what, I am still waiting for the day I come out with a win!
Summer Moon Coffee in Frisco, Texas
This place gets me in the zone of work! Located in the older downtown of Frisco, this little spot is always busy and popping with clients trying to get their dose of goodness throughout the day! Being a locally owned coffee shop you can’t go wrong with trying any of their drinks. What I love most about this coffee shop is their customer service. They are always so friendly and let you in on what’s happening. The staff at Summer Moon Coffee also does a great job at getting you excited about what is going on in their coffee shop. To me, that is a great way to start my projects and work.
Night Life:
When it comes to night life, Dallas and its surrounding places have a ton of options! I haven’t gotten the chance to explore too many just yet. The one that I have explored and was recommended very well was Deep Ellum. Boy was it fun! Deep Ellum is located near the heart of Dallas. It has so many bar choices with a very lively night life scene on the weekends.
Deep Ellum in Dallas, Texas
Deep Ellum is a good combination for food, dancing, drinking and fun! You can start your night by checking out the brewery and then head over to the bars that pivot your attention. At the end of the night you can find numerous late-night food places around. That very same area offers delicious food to satisfy any midnight munchies! One last thing I really enjoy about Deep Ellum is their mural art that are spread throughout! It is so cute and picture worthy when you come across them!
Food:
When it comes to food, the options seem unlimited too! I would consider the area I live in to be very diverse which is exciting when you are open to trying new food. A couple that I have been enjoying and will be going back to include:
Pepper Smash is located in the Shops of Legacy in Plano, Texas. The shops of Legacy are a lively out door shopping distract offering a nice balance of shopping and food! Pepper Smash is a cocktail kitchen offering their best in cocktails and finger food. My suggestion is to come during happy hour where some of the finger food and drinks are on happy hour prices! Their wings, flatbreads and cotton candy martini are what bring me to food heaven at Pepper Smash.
Legacy Hall is a place I came across on Instagram and is also located in Plano! Maybe I am being naive, but Legacy Hall met my expectations and more. Now off the bat I will say that it can be a tad pricey so again, I encourage that you go during happy hour to save some bucks. Legacy Food Hall has many food, drinks and beer options. I enjoyed it because it is three levels of goodness with outdoor seating as well with a big TV playing the latest in sports.
Frisco Rail Yard has been one of the cutest food locations! It is open only during certain hours on certain days. If you decide to check them out make sure it is done on a day that they are open. Trust me you won’t regret it! This place stood out to me because it offers a variety of food options!
The first time I got to visit I opted for the Tex Mex food truck and it did not disappoint. Frisco Rail Yard gathers numerous food trucks. It is also unique because it is in a circle and in the middle there are picnic tables where one can enjoy their food. To add to that, they have live bands playing to take the experience to the next level. If that is not enough, let me tell you my most favorite part! My favorite part, besides the great music and food, was the fact that they had huge versions of my childhood games (lets be real I still play these games) such as Jenga and Connect 4! To me it was a perfect date night.
For Fun:
Movie theaters are huge here! the awesome thing about it is that you can find really affordable movies or really splurge on a movie night. I have explored two movie theaters so far fitting what I just described. One was the Angelika Film Center in Plano, Texas. This movie theater offers a combination of indie and mainstream movies at an affordable price. The second movie theater was the Studio Movie Grill which offers many food and drink options at the press of a button in the comfort of your seat! This option is a little more costly but worth it if you want to splurge yourself!
Cidercade is located in the design distract of Dallas! For $10 plus drink costs, a person is able to get access to over 165 arcade games and about 24 cider drink options! Hence the combined name of Cidercade! This place is going to be an epic experience to those that like a mix of retro and new arcade games. I was so excited to do Mario Kart racing and play Guardians of the Galaxy pinball! Games can range from 1, 2 and 3 players which I thought was a good variety.
Oh, and I must add the cider tasted good if you enjoy cider drinks. Food is not an option at Cidercade but they welcome people to bring your own or have it delivered there. They also have a food truck on Saturdays which makes getting food easier on that day.
Dallas Museum of Art is located downtown in Dallas! This museum was established in the year of 1903. When I went I was not able to get through the entire museum. There was so much to read and look at! To my surprise, I found out that the museum is actually amongst the top 10 largest museums in the nation! Which then made more sense to me as to why it felt so big.
This is a great place to do some learning and exploring. The great thing is that general admission is free and gets you in to explore most of the museum and exhibits. I must add that some exhibits, especially temporary ones, do cost extra. My one piece of advice when visiting the Dallas Museum of Art is to make sure to plan enough time to explore it all.
Thank you!
