Wynner’s Club

I wasn’t going to write this post. I told myself that there were enough lists listing Black-owned restaurants in the city [whether online or social media]. I thought, what’s my list going to do? It wasn’t until I got a DM on Instagram asking me for my own list because they trust my opinion on food. I now realize that the more lists there are with Black-Owned restaurants, the more chances we give these businesses to shine and give more exposure to, which is at the end of the day the best for businesses. With the racist climate in our society, we have to continue to lift Black people (and their businesses) up at any chance we can get.

I love supporting POC/Black-owned businesses. If you check out my Instagram feed, you’ll notice that many of the restaurants I promote are POC-owned. After all, I am a person of color myself. If we don’t highlight minority businesses in our cities and towns, no one will. But without further ado, here’s a list of some of my favorite [far from all] Black-owned restaurants in the Queen City [if you have a restaurant I should link, feel free to send me a message and I’ll add it here!]

Lulu’s Maryland Style Chicken & Seafood

Um, probably my most favorite Black-owned restaurant in Charlotte. No other crab cake compares to theirs. Their shrimp plate is divine and unlike any other fried shrimp I’ve had around the city. Truly, if you’re a crab cake lover, Lulu’s will take your love up 100 notches.

Ty’s Wings & Tingz

My favorite chicken wing spot I’ve had so far in the Queen City. Wait times are a bit on the longer side, but it’s completely worth it as all of your food comes out piping hot.

Delicious, efficient, and a solid choice when it comes to food trucks. The Mac Attack is a must. Get hand breaded tenders on a bed of creamy mac and cheese and tots, garnished with bacon bits & chives… mmmm SO GOOD. Keep up with their schedule here.

What the Fries

Another food truck that blows it out of the water. Their loaded fries? Your BFF. Keep up with their schedule here.
