Glamping:

A form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping.

Have you ever heard about Glamping? If you aren’t an outdoorsy or camping type of person but would like to become one with nature some day … I recommend Glamping. Why? Well you get all the feels of being out in nature while getting SOME hotel-like accommodations like a bed, fridge, and even a mirror! For my birthday this year I decided to try it and let me tell you I am not an outside person AT ALL but, growth sits right outside of your comfort zone, right? Any who, I had been pretty much stalking Asheville Glamping on Instagram for a couple of months and I got the chance to book and I did (they are usually booked MONTHS in advance).

There are various types of glamping accommodations that include:

  • Tents: On the more traditional side
  • Yurts: A circular tent which is often bigger than a regular tent
  • Tipis: Cone shaped tent made out of material such as cloth
  • Domes: (MY FAVORITE) Circular housing with a multitude of views surrounding the actual dome.
  • Treehouses: An adult’s childhood dream come true (Asheville Glamping is currently working to build one on their property)

I booked Dome 1 and it had a queen bed, fridge, a mirror, and a small relaxing area with two chairs. The bathroom and shower was just a short walk up a hill (it’s really short, guys). We had a fire pit which included the firewood and a grill for when you get hungry! Asheville Glamping is located about 10-15 minutes from downtown Asheville and about 5 minutes to downtown Weaverville. You can easily get in and out to buy whatever you need.

Here are my top packing tips for beginner glampers:

  1. Toilet paper, toothbrush, and toothpaste
  2. Open and closed toed shoes (the inside of our dome was flip flop approved)
  3. Paper plates/Plastic utensils
  4. Ice (with a cooler if your unit does NOT have a freezer)
  5. Trash bags
  6. Sunscreen (if vacationing in the summer)
  7. Coffee Maker
  8. Board games (for rainy days)
  9. Wash cloths
  10. Matches
  11. Extra blankets (you can never be too safe in the winter)

s’mores may or may not have been my favorite part (;

To be honest with you all I was low-key scared to stay in the middle of nowhere over-night but once you get on site everything felt secure. I had a great and relaxing birthday star-gazing and sleeping in. If you have any questions about glamping, don’t be shy and ask!

Until next time!
